The Get Nauti summer collection for Icelantic Skis was my first intro to the world of apparel design and manufacturing in the U.S. From creating the initial CADS and sourcing materials to planning a two-week-long photo shoot in Iceland, this collection was a dream to create.
The chosen theme to drive the summer collection was simple yet, simultaneously, highly complex: Water. Icelantic’s name and logo is anchored in 1°C — the temperature in which water turns to ice. As a ski company, the business is driven by snow and chasing winter but, in the summer, the brand chases after water, with sailing being a large part of the company culture.
Crisp cotton seersuckers and buttery bamboos were paired with my hand-drawn graphic-tee designs to create a tight and seamless collection of nautical edge. We then through in the amazing paintings by Carly Jo into swimsuit patterns and the line was somethin’ special.
